Exuberant, colourful, glorious harbingers of Spring: is there anyone who doesn’t love tulips? So why not come and join me for a 3 day retreat celebrating their glory
We will be learning how to design and make our own simple stamps, stencils and rubbing plates, inspired by these beautiful flowers. We will then use these tools, both directly applied and used with the gelli plate, to create gorgeous personal fabrics and papers.
We will then use our materials to create a collection of collages in your choice of fabric or paper (or both if you have time). These collages will then be further developed to produce a spontaneous design inspiration book, and some selected pieces for framing. Any of these can be further embellished by stitching.
No previous experience is needed – this workshop is approachable from any level of knowledge
We will be working in the beautiful cloisters of Bordersley Abbey and Needle Museum in Redditch. These are an inspiring space in themselves, with plenty of room to work, and heating!! There is also an onsite café.
Accommodation is not included, but students often stay at the next door Premier Inn, which is a short walk away from the museum and abbey. There is a Beefeater restaurant on the Premier Inn site for food … and a drink if you fancy !!
The retreats at Redditch have always been a bit special I feel – and this one will be no exception. I do hope you will come along and join me in celebrating this glorious flower
